In order to determine the
appropriate level and kind of services needed, each child is assessed by one of
our supervisory level staff members. Typically, children will be placed in one
of two programs:
School
/ Home Intensive Services
Children who require intensive
intervention are typically given more than 40 hours per week of therapeutic
intervention at school.
Similar intervention is provided to
children at home for up to 10 hours per week.
Applied behavior analysis
techniques, such as discrete trial training, incidental teaching, modeling,
pivotal response training, and others, are used to maximize each child's
potential.
Social
Skills Program
The social skills program is for high-functioning
children who are able to communicate verbally, but who have difficulty
maintaining appropriate relationships with peers or adults. These children
usually attend regular or inclusive schools during the day, and receive
services from ICDC after school for up to 10 hours per week. These services may
occur either in the child's home or at our own school site.
In the therapeutic classroom, as
well as in individual homes, children are taught by qualified, carefully
trained and supervised therapists.
